Yin Yoga is a natural balance to all of your “Yang” activities providing a meditative practice using gentle, longer-held postures to allow for deep opening in the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and spine.
The practice focuses on connective tissue ~ benefiting the hips, knees, spine, shoulders and your general flexibility.
Although challenging, the longer held postures imbue a feeling of balance, calm and bliss!.
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues (such as the ligaments, bones, and joints) and energetic channels of the meridians, nerves, and blood system of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.
One big difference noticed by students of Yin Yoga is the long-held, passive nature of the posture, which gives time for a deeper journey to unfold–a journey into the meditative aspects of yoga.
Let Sarah welcome you to a safe and supportive space for your journey to motherhood (and beyond). Prenatal Yoga classes are thoughtfully designed and sequenced to help strengthen and open the muscles and joints of the body that work hard to support your growing baby. Asana (or the physical postures) will help prepare your body for pregnancy and childbirth, breathing exercises will aid in relaxation and visualization as well as meditation will build confidence and peace.
Overall, Sarah’s prenatal class will focus on the tremendous feminine power and abilities that a pregnant woman possesses. Prior to her own journey to motherhood, Sarah had a passion for learning about pregnancy and found yoga to be a channel through which she could share that passion and help empower women through their own journey. She is certified specifically in Prenatal Yoga and looks forward to working with and building a community of yogi mammas!
